Kids Party Theme Ideas

by Lollypotz | March 25, 2015

Making a child’s birthday party special is tough work! These kids party themes are flexible so they can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. All the themes listed here are great fun for kids, and can be enjoyed by both boys and girls.

Pirate Party!

Simple decorations like red and black balloons, bunting, paper plates and napkins will help set the atmosphere. Having eye patches and pieces of material that can act as bandanas will really get the kids in the swing of things and so will a range of pirate rub on tattoos!

If you want to really push the boat out (get it?) having a treasure hunt with clues around your house or garden will definitely have the kids in a swashbuckling mood.

Don’t forget to use all the pirate phrases like:

Shiver me timbers

Ahoy me hearties!

Thar she blows!

Yo ho ho!

Walk the plank scallywags

Superhero theme

Every kids dreams of being a superhero at some point, and with all the recent movies from the Marvel universe, they’ve never been more popular.

Face painting will go a long way to transforming the kids into their favourite superheroes.

Use cocktail sticks and homemade tags to show off your ‘super’ party food, and these party games will make the kids feel like true heros!

To go absolutely all out, why not immortalise the kids as heros? You’ll need blue bed sheets, cotton balls, and cereal cardboard boxes and a camera.

Decorate the inside of the cereal boxes to look like buildings. 3 - 4 is enough, but you can do as many as you like. The more colourful, the better! On the day of the party, arrange your blue bed sheets on the ground, with the decorated cardboard boxes on the bottom of the sheets. Arrange the cotton balls to look like clouds. When you’re ready, have the kids (one or two at a time) lie down on the sheets, in a flying pose and snap their photo!
